The 10th IOBC-WPRS Working Group Meeting on Modern Biotechnology in Integrated Plant Production will take place from 22–24 November 2026 in Chania, Crete (Greece), jointly hosted with the final conference of the REACT project. Under the theme “Innovative Pest Control: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Agriculture”, the meeting will explore how biotechnology and other innovative approaches can complement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies in addressing current and emerging agricultural challenges.
Participants can look forward to discussions on:
Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) and other genetic pest control approaches
RNA interference (RNAi), gene transfer and new breeding technologies
Surveillance, diagnostics and early detection of invasive pests
Automation, mass rearing and operational implementation of pest control technologies
Environmental, socio-economic and regulatory dimensions of biotechnology-based pest management
Pathways towards large-scale adoption and practical implementation in agriculture
